Pets For Vets

Embracing Trust, my latest soon-to-be published romance novel is about a U. S. Army Veteran who returns home to Texas after an 18-month deployment. He's suffering from PTSD and is struggling to get his life back in order. As I was researching the aftermath of our Veterans time served in combat zones, I not only learned about the many trials they face upon returning home, but also about the wonderful organizations who help get our servicemen and women back into a normal routine.

While researching the importance of the healing power of dogs for Veterans, I reached out to Pets For Vets and discovered the great things this organization is doing to put dogs with our returning Veterans. Pets For Vets has chapters around the country that match rescue dogs with Vets.

Besides encouraging physical fitness, the animals also ease loneliness and enhance the mental well-being of their new companions. Pets For Vets provides companion dogs only (no therapy dogs), but gives both soldiers and shelter dogs a new chance at life.
